I’m Kaiki. My interests include programming, technology, and gaming.
I’ve used Linux for about 9 years and have been a cat owner for about 5 years. My interest in programming began with ComputerCraft in middle school. I’ve since worked with several languages and studied databases and web development.
I’ve taken on a variety of roles in modded Minecraft communities and still run a server. I’ve also participated in other communities as a host, staff member, and member.
Away from the keyboard, I enjoy 3D printing, electronics, and cooking. I also enjoy reading, anime, and manga, especially stories involving science fiction, fantasy, cyberpunk, and psychological themes.
Linux
Arch Linux is my everyday operating system, with Hyprland on Wayland and a choice of Arch or CachyOS kernels through systemd-boot. For recovery, I use Snapper and snap-pac to manage Btrfs snapshots around package updates, alongside a known-good fallback and a separate recovery drive.
I’ve customized my Hyprland desktop for multiple monitors, using Waybar for workspace, media, and system information and Hyprpaper for wallpapers. My terminal of choice is Kitty with JetBrains Mono, and Mako to handle desktop notifications.
I use special workspaces to keep Discord and Spotify close at hand without leaving them open on my main workspace. Keyboard shortcuts let me bring them up on the active monitor or hide them again, and I have two additional scratchpad workspaces for other windows.

It uses an ASUS PRIME Z390-A motherboard, with storage set aside for my home files, virtual machines, and games. The setup includes two 1920 × 1080 monitors at 144 Hz and an additional 1360 × 768 display at 60 Hz.
I started dual-booting Linux and Windows in 2011. In 2017, after Windows disrupted a project and later caused a crash and blue screen, I switched fully to Linux. I still use Windows in a virtual machine when needed.
I started with Fedora, then tried Arch Linux for a short time before instability led me to Ubuntu. I also spent some time using Debian before returning to Arch around August 2025. I’ve spent most of my time on Linux using KDE, and used i3 for a while before switching to Hyprland. I originally planned to try Hyprland before switching to Sway, but Hyprland convinced me to stay.
Gaming
I enjoy creative sandbox games, space exploration, role-playing games, and multiplayer action. Minecraft has been a longstanding interest, especially with mods. On Steam, I’ve spent considerable time with Space Engineers, Terraria, and StarMade, alongside online worlds such as Zezenia Online and RuneScape.
I also play multiplayer and action games, including Marvel Rivals, HELLDIVERS 2, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. My play history extends to games such as Grand Theft Auto V, Noita, and Cyberpunk 2077.
Beyond the games I’ve spent the most time playing, my library includes strategy and simulation titles such as Art of War: Red Tides, The Powder Toy, and Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator, some with little or no recorded playtime. I play on Linux and also have a Steam Deck and a VR headset. You can find my profile on Steam.
Minecraft
I started playing Minecraft around February 2013 and have always had a particular interest in modded Minecraft. One of the first modpacks I got into was Direwolf20 for Minecraft 1.7.10. hfog, dadsRfunny, and Direwolf20 are YouTubers who influenced me to get into Minecraft, with the first two being especially influential.
ComputerCraft is a mod I enjoyed that introduced me to Lua in middle school. What began as an interest in a Minecraft mod later grew into an interest in programming more broadly. I’ve also grown to enjoy newer mods such as Hex Casting and Psi.
SethBling helped introduce me to Redstone, while Mumbo Jumbo and ilmango influenced me to explore more complex Redstone. I also watched EthosLab and Hypnotizd play modded Minecraft, which further encouraged me to try more mods.
Minecraft has given me a great deal of experience running and supporting servers. Over the years, I’ve served as moderator, administrator, co-owner, and even owner across a variety of Minecraft servers. I still run a Minecraft server and occasionally host others for small communities centered around books or other things that catch my interest.
Programming
I began programming with Lua through ComputerCraft in Minecraft. Eventually I moved beyond ComputerCraft and started using a Lua IDE to make small projects of my own.
Wanting to make Minecraft mods led me to learn Java. Later, as I got into Linux, I learned to work with Bash and Python and picked up some C before starting college.
My college education gave me a more thorough understanding of Python and introduced further coursework in C#, C++, SQL, and web development.
I’m finishing my degree and plan to continue my education while seeking work that lets me put my interest in programming to use.
I still play with ComputerCraft and have also become interested in Hex Casting and Psi, which incorporate programming logic and ways of thinking.
For programming-related content, I enjoy watching Computerphile, Primer, and Code Bullet.
Anime
I enjoy anime and manga, particularly stories with science fiction, fantasy, cyberpunk, and psychological themes. You can find my profile on AniList.
I watched Naruto and Dragon Ball before I began exploring anime more broadly around 2013. Later, the creators below helped introduce me to series such as Fairy Tail, Bleach, and many other classics.
Misty Chronexia was an early influence in getting me into anime. The Anime Man became another major influence shortly afterward. Later, Lost Pause introduced me to more series. These channels helped introduce me to anime, though I haven’t kept up with them closely since I began watching more.
Some series have influenced how I think and changed how I watch and enjoy anime, even if they aren’t necessarily my favorites. These include Clannad, Claymore, the Monogatari series, Strike the Blood, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Psycho-Pass, and Bleach.
Some of my favorites, grouped by genre, include:
Science fiction and mecha: Suisei no Gargantia, Code Geass, Kuromukuro, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Fantasy and adventure: InuYasha, Overlord, Princess Mononoke, Howl’s Moving Castle, Spirited Away, and Katanagatari.
Supernatural action: Blue Exorcist, Blood Lad, Noragami, and Ushio and Tora.
Psychological and horror: BEASTARS, Elfen Lied, and BLAME!.
Romance and slice of life: Toradora!
Technology
I’m interested in technology and how things work, from everyday devices to the science and manufacturing behind computer chips. Cody’sLab helped spark my interest in science, while NileRed nudged me toward chemistry.
AntsCanada and The Thought Emporium encouraged my interest in biology. Scott Manley got me interested in space through Kerbal Space Program and also covers topics such as supercomputers and nuclear science. Steve Mould, Veritasium, and Kyle Hill help keep me interested in science and physics more broadly.
I built my own desktop, which uses an Intel Core i7-9700K, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER Founders Edition, and 64 GB of memory.

I also use a late-2012 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro running Arch Linux, along with Raspberry Pi computers. My devices include a Steam Deck and a VR headset.
I’ve experimented with circuit boards and soldering. Ben Eater and ElectroBOOM are among the creators I follow for the hands-on side of technology, including electronics, breadboards, circuit boards, and electricity.
3D Printing
I got into 3D printing with an Ender 3 Pro, which I’ve had since around 2019. The printer became a project in its own right: I spent a lot of time tinkering with it to get it working and keep it printing well.

I built an enclosure for it and got into electronics while adding ventilation, temperature control, and lighting so I could see inside. I learned a lot from working on the printer and its surroundings.
Eventually, I grew tired of spending so much time tinkering and moved to a Bambu Lab P2S. I had initially considered the X1 Carbon, but the P2S looked like a better deal when I was ready to buy.

I also helped get my brother into 3D printing. He now prints with a P1S.
I occasionally print Dungeons & Dragons miniatures and other small pieces. I learned to do that on the Ender 3 Pro using a fine nozzle and carefully considered print settings. Resin printers are often better suited to such small details, but I found a way to make them work with an FDM printer.
I’ve also made plenty of phone stands, costume pieces, and other things I use day to day.
I watch CNC Kitchen and Maker’s Muse, both of which have strongly influenced how I approach 3D printing.
Reading
Animorphs and Guardians of Ga’Hoole were important early influences that helped get me into reading. My interests have since grown to include fantasy, science fiction, horror, and Japanese light novels such as Overlord and How Not to Summon a Demon Lord.
I’m drawn to unusual or nonhuman protagonists, earned power, meaningful growth, and stories where danger feels real. I also enjoy inventive magic and technology and the gradual development possible in longer stories.
Other stories I’ve read and enjoyed include The Murderbot Diaries, Born of Silicon, Magic Is Programming, The Arcane Paladin, Undermind, City of Bones from The Mortal Instruments series, A Nerubian’s Journey, The Hobbit, Vigor Mortis, and Desecration.
Stories I’ve also been reading or following include Giant Robot Reincarnation?!, Dungeon 42, Flesh Eater: Demon Evolution LitRPG, and New Life as a Max Level Archmage. I’ve also started Warriors: Into the Wild by Erin Hunter.
Music
Rock and heavier music are a substantial part of what I listen to. I return to multiple songs by Highly Suspect, Seether, and Godsmack, including “Vanity”, “Fine Again”, and “Voodoo”.
My listening also includes Shinedown, Korn, Deftones, Ozzy Osbourne, and Disturbed. Fall Out Boy is another artist I listen to quite a bit, while Slipknot is a favorite I return to more occasionally.
Sometimes a particular song draws me in more than an artist’s wider catalog. Tracks that stand out to me include “No Angels” by Stellar, “Insane” by Black Gryph0n, “Lust for a Vampyr” by I Monster, “Too Sweet” by Hozier, and “Like a Stone” by Audioslave.
More recent songs I’ve enjoyed include “Bite Marks” by League of Legends and TEYA, “Go To War” by Nothing More, “Memories” by Maroon 5, “4ÆM” by Grimes, “i broke time” by angelbaby, and “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons.
My listening extends beyond rock into alternative music, pop, and Japanese music, including YOASOBI and PinocchioP’s “God-ish”. For a closer look, you can explore my Spotify and Last.fm profiles.
Dungeons & Dragons

I’ve played Dungeons & Dragons since around late 2019, both as a player and as a Dungeon Master. I prefer being a player, and I especially enjoy playing spellcasters and rogues.

I’ve played many one-shots and a few longer-running campaigns. Most of my one-shots have been online, while most of my longer campaigns have been in person.
I own nearly all the fifth-edition books and prefer fifth edition over the revised 5.5 edition. I don’t own any of the 5.5 books.
